Admitted to the Hospital

Sam was admitted to UPMC Passavant Hospital last night. Yesterday, and most of the weekend, he had been running a high temperature and we were treating it with Advil and Tylenol, but late yesterday his temp went to 104.1 and he thought he saw blood in his urine. After numerous tests (bloodwork, urine analysis, chest x-ray) they admitted him because his WBC (white blood cell) count and Neutrophils were low.

He will be in a private room due to concerns regarding infection and when I learn more today, I will update this post.

Sorry I don't know more now. I wasn't able to get though to the nurses station at this writing. To be honest, I am glad they admitted him. We both had been concerned by how long his temp had been staying high (since August 21st) and I'm hoping they can stablize him and get him feeling better. I don't know if the Cancer Center will continue his treatments today, but I'll let you know later.

Pray for us.

Hi Maddy:

I'm glad they admitted Sam, too. I was going to write yesterday and tell you to put him on Aleve, but I didn't want to put more fear into you...yeah, like that could happen.

I'm surprised they waited this long with the temp. I know that his cancer isn't the same as Jim's, but if Jim gets a temp, it's not a good thing. And if Aleve is the only thing that brings the temp down, it's really not good.

What hospital is Sam in? If they admit Jim, it will be Passavant. I can check on Sam for you, have dinner with you, or whatever you may need.

Well, it's 2:00 a.m. We have a doc appt. tomorrow to see the results of the PET scan and to see if they will continue chemo or what. As you can see, I'm nervous and can't sleep.

But I am now going to go to bed, and rather than count sheep, I will seek out the Shepherd, and I will lift you and Sam up before our Lord.

I want to ask him to have mercy on us, but doesn't he always? But I'll ask for some extra.

And I'll pray for you too. It's a hard walk we're taking.

Love Gloria

Ok, get the net. I must be going nuts. PASSAVANT.

Who is his Doctor? Did you tell me that one yet?
